What is the recommended order for PPL subjects?
For Private Pilot License (PPL) students, we recommend completing subjects in this order:
- Air Law
- Human Performance
- Principles of Flight
- Aircraft Technical & General
- Meteorology
Once these are completed, move on to:
- Flight Planning
- Navigation
- Restricted Radio
These advanced subjects build on prior knowledge and practical flight training, so completing them later improves understanding.
How much time do I have to complete my exams?
For PPL, CPL, and ATPL, you must complete all required exams within 18 months of passing your first exam. Plan your time carefully!

What happens if I fail an exam?
If your exam doesn’t go as planned:
- Send us a picture of your coaching report, and an instructor will guide you on what to focus on.
- We encourage you to share your success stories too!

How do I know which course to take?
Your starting point depends on your progress:
- New PPL students: Follow the recommended subject order above.
- CPL/ATPL students: Join a course for the subject you need help with.
What is included in each course?
- You will need your own study materials. If you need books, we can supply them through our online shop.
- All training materials, recordings, and course content remain the property of Infinite Online Ground School and cannot be shared.
Refund Policy

Do you offer refunds?
Yes, we have a fair refund policy:
1. Eligibility for Refunds
- Self-Paced Courses: Refunds are available within 7 days of purchase, provided no more than 20% of the course has been completed.
- Live/Instructor-Led Courses: Refund requests must be made at least 5 days before the course start date for a full refund. Later requests may be eligible for partial refunds at our discretion.
2. Non-Refundable Situations
Refunds will not be granted if:
- The request is made after 7 days (self-paced courses).
- More than 20% of the course material has been accessed.
- The course has been fully downloaded or completed.
- The course was purchased under a “No Refunds” disclaimer.
- You were removed due to violating our Terms of Use.
3. How to Request a Refund

- Subject line: “Refund Request – [Course Name]”
- Your name and order number
- The email used to register
- Reason for your refund request
Refunds are processed within 7–10 business days after approval.

Are there specific school subjects required to become a pilot?
While no specific subjects are required, the following are highly beneficial:
- Mathematics (Core)
- Physics
- Geography
Do I need a matric certificate to become a pilot?
A matric certificate is not required for a Private Pilot License (PPL). However, it may be requested when applying for a Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
Do I need an aviation medical certificate or SPL before starting ground school?
It is strongly recommended to obtain an aviation medical certificate before starting, as this ensures you can continue with flight training.
What is the exam pass mark?
The pass mark for all exams is 75%.
Where can I write my exams?
- PPL exams: At a flight school or the SACAA in Midrand.
- CPL & ATPL exams: At SACAA Midrand or designated outstation venues.
Can I write CPL exams before getting my PPL?
No. You must first complete your PPL before attempting CPL exams.
Can I start CPL ground school before finishing my PPL flight test?
While not prohibited, it is not recommended due to the high workload.

What do A / H mean after a license?
- A = Aeroplane (Fixed-Wing)
- H = Helicopter (Rotor-Wing)
What is the difference between VFR CPL and IFR CPL?
- VFR CPL (Visual Flight Rules): Pilots can only fly in good visibility conditions.
- IFR CPL (Instrument Flight Rules): Pilots can fly in poor visibility using instruments.
What is included in an Instrument Rating (IR) course?
The Instrument Rating (IR) ground school prepares students for the Ops & Procedures exam, required for flying in low visibility conditions.
